Are you interested in being part of the award winning team? You have come to the right place!
The Grassfield Bands has an award-winning high school marching and concert band located in Chesapeake, Virginia. We are deeply dedicated to our amazing music programs and currently boast a membership of nearly 160 high school music students.
We compete and perform at venues all over the Tidewater and Southeastern United States and have a dedicated staff that guides and encourages our students. We set high expectations for ourselves and our students, and they always rise to the occasion.
Our supportive parent community and Grassfield Band Parent Association raise funds that support our efforts, making it possible for us to continue to provide an excellent band experience for all.
The color guard at Grassfield High School is a part of the marching band and music program. During football season, the color guard is an integral part of the marching design, color palette, and musical interpretation of the show. The guard uses props and equipment, along with movement, to express dynamic passages in the music accompanying the marching band show.
The Grassfield Color Guard performs during football games at halftime and at competitions. During competitions, the guard adds to the overall score of the band; however, the judges also give an individual score to the color guard for a category usually called auxiliary. The Grassfield Color Guard consists of high school students who benefit from being in a world-class organization and have the opportunity to work with some of the best professional color guard instructors and performers in the world.
There are a few things that you can do to begin preparing for an experience like no other.
Grassfield Band Program also consists of our award winning color guard and world ranked winter guard. The color guard is a unit of the Grassfield Marching Grizzlies. To participate in either of these activities you must be a student at Grassfield High school. Practices will begin in the early Spring, followed by auditions.
We look forward to seeing you on the field!
