2022 Grizzly Classic

The Grassfield High School Band Program is proud to host high school marching bands across Virginia and North Carolina to participate in the Annual Grassfield High School Grizzly Classic. This event features renowned judges and enables spectators to view many exceptional marching bands. The Grizzly Classic is a Virginia Marching Band Cooperative event.
Our Goal – Constructive evaluation and feedback from an accomplished panel of adjudicators that will benefit the remainder of each band’s marching season, be it regional championships or VBODA Assessment. We ensure this by hiring quality judges that can offer constructive critique and praise for ANY TYPE of band and by supplying bands with digital files of judge recordings immediately following their performance so bands may share this information with staff and students.
Event Highlights & Details:
Ease of Getting Here – Grassfield High School is located in South Hampton Roads, just off Highway 17 in Chesapeake, providing a central location for southeastern Virginia and eastern North Carolina bands, just two hours from Richmond and two hours from Greenville, NC.
Classification – The bands will be divided into classes by size according to the number of playing members. These classes will be determined by natural breaks in the registered bands. Bands will be scheduled within their classes by earliest postmark or timestamp.
Hospitality & Food – A generous hospitality tent located inside the performance enclosure and stocked with our outstanding culinary arts team’s wonderful cooking and beverages. (Come hungry and bring your staff and bus drivers!)
We also have a large concession stand that will be fully stocked for parents, family, students, and fans on the day.
We're excited and ready for the 10th annual Grassfield Grizzly Classic!
